To Dance With Angel’s Wings

She donned her shoes with grace

spinning ballerina

a child’s face

Her voice, an echo of her mother’s

sixteen and silent

Floating in song

we watched her dance

The calming effect after a storm

Holding her back

we tied her wings in vain

Face of an angel

left in the wreckage

sweet sorrows, we sing

bitter consequence

a stranger’s recklessness

She was taken

on the day of balance

heartbreak for too many

One not lost to a story

Forever loved

forever remembered

to dance with angel’s wings

she soars

higher than angels with golden wings
